Knightsbridge is a fantastic part of London, as it has so much to offer in a small space that you can easily explore without the need for lots of public transport. Plus, it’s so easy to access, whether you drive and choose Knightsbridge parking, get there on the tube, or get the bus to one of the many stops in the area. So, it’s time to tell you all about the wonderful things you can do in the area!
If you’re wanting to explore Kensington on a budget, then one of the best things you can do is explore the free museums! Some of the best museums in London are in and around Kensington, and the ones we’re going to discuss are literally within a minute's walk of each other! So, you could visit one, two, or all three museums and then plan things in between the visits, such as stopping off for lunch or enjoying some of the local shops and coffee shops.
The three museums we’d say you should definitely are The Victoria & Albert Museum, The Natural History Museum, and the Science Museum. These are all such iconic British museums, they’re super interesting and great to visit whether you’re going on your own, with friends, with your partner, or with your family.
Exploring at least one of the Royal Parks in London is always advised as they’re fantastic, so when you’re in Knightsbridge, you should head to Hyde Park. It’s 350 acres, is filled with interesting things to do, and is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of London, whether you go in there for 10 minutes or a good few hours. Take a stroll around or you could hop onto one of the Santander Cycles for a quicker option that means you may get a chance to see more of the park.
We’d advise going into Hyde Park at the Albert Gate entrance, where you will immediately see Santander Cycles if you want to do it this way. Walk straight ahead and then on your left you’ll see the Serpentine, a recreational lake that you can walk part or all of the way around.
If you’re feeling adventurous you can do outdoor swimming (make sure you go to the Serpentine Lido for this, don’t just hop in!), or you can also hire boats which can be a really fun way of exploring. Plenty of cafes surround the Serpentine, along with different memorials such as the Holocaust Memorial and the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain.
This is a great way to spend either part or all of your day in Knightsbridge!
No guide on the best things to do in Knightsbridge would be complete without introducing Harrods! This is one of the most iconic department stores in the world, with the most incredible array of designer clothing, bags, shoes, and jewellery, along with exceptional food and drink, furniture, gifting, beauty and so much more. Even if you’re not in the market for any luxury goods, we’d absolutely recommend going and having a good look around because it’s an incredible experience!
Every iconic luxury brand you can imagine has its place in Harrods, but the displays and overall atmosphere make the experience so much better than other standard department stores. Our personal favourite part of Harrods is the food and drink hall.
You can eat and drink there if you’d like with a wide variety of options to choose from, whether it’s sushi, patisserie, or anything in between. They have some of the world’s refreshments, along with more affordable options such as delicious teas, wonderful biscuits, or the most amazing chocolates that all make the perfect souvenir.
There are so many areas of London to explore, however, Knightsbridge would definitely be up there for us. If you don’t want to, with the ideas above you don’t even have to spend any money! Or, if you have the budget, you could make it into a more luxurious day. Either way, we have no doubt that you will thoroughly enjoy your time at Knightsbridge.
