If you’re heading to London and are trying to plan ahead your outfits, you’re in the right place!
We’re here to give you some inspiration on what to wear for a night out in London, no matter which part of the city you’re going to. London can be tricky, as some of the different areas you have to explore are super posh and dressy, whereas others are much more casual, so we’re here to help you strike the perfect balance so you fit in with the Londoners!
First up we have Covent Garden, one of the most popular areas of London just around the corner from some of the country’s best theatres. As well as the beautiful shops, some so many fantastic venues and restaurants are a hub for many people’s night out in London.
So, our go-to outfit would be a midi skirt, with a simple cami top, and then layer with a leather jacket. Finish the look with heeled boots, loafers, or heels, then some simple yet classy accessories like your favourite flat-back earrings, some layered necklaces, and a bracelet. This way, you can easily take your jacket off if you decide to go out after your meal and drinks, but if you don’t, you will feel comfortable and warm enough all evening long.
When you head for a night out in Kensington + Chelsea, it’s time to get dressed up. You will find some of London’s fanciest and poshest bars, restaurants, and clubs in this area of London, so you can plan any kind of night out that you want. It is more expensive here, so make sure that you are prepared to spend quite a bit, but you will have a fantastic experience and get to enjoy some of London’s most exclusive nightlife areas.
For us, a great go-to outfit for a night in Kensington + Chelsea is a simple little black dress and a blazer, with heels and your best clutch bag. Again, perfect for a transitional evening if you want to start the evening in a restaurant and finish it in a club dancing the night away!
Next, we have Camden, the more trendy area of London known for its counter-culture, community, diversity, and thriving nightlife. This is quite the opposite of Kensington and Chelsea, as it is much more relaxed when it comes to the dress codes, as most of the venues are more alternative clubs, old school venues, or simply more open to expressing yourself through fashion or being able to relax and have a great time with the people around you.
For Camden, we love a skirt, sheer tights, chunky boots, and your favourite oversized jumper, for the perfect combination of chilled and dressy that you will feel comfortable in all night.
Last but not least we have SoHo, which is the main entertainment district right in the heart of London. In SoHo, there is everything from grubby and grungy clubs to swanky bars, known for giving you the best night out no matter where you choose to go.
If you just want to head over to SoHo and are not sure where you want to go yet, a pair of leather trousers, a corset top, and heels is a good in-between. This outfit is on the dressier side of things, but you should be fine in most venues dressed like this as people often jump between different types of venues in SoHo!
